Dodging Cupid is a classic rock & roll band from the Delaware Valley, playing the songs that have endured over time. Our repertoire extends from tunes from the 50’s all the way through the 90’s, and includes genres such as Motown, country rock, and blues as well.
We have been together twenty-five solid years, and if you could imagine are all still very good friends. In our former life we were known as The Soul Avengers, again, another testament to our incisive abilities to name ourselves, but not totally without some meaning- we did, and still do play Soul, among other things. The band has morphed a few times in our 25 year history, starting as a collection of weekend warriors placed together as part of a music store advertisement to sell equipment , to who we are today. Our repertoire of players has remained consistent, adding, and subtracting one or two along the way. Our gig experiences have been most interesting We have played for: Weddings, civic functions, parties, dining establishments, moose lodges, Senatorial re-elections, British Marine Bands, over sixty wedding, Woodstock revivals, and a lot of stuff in-between. The common thread in all of this is Fun! Regardless of the gigs, we have lots of it, and the audience does as well.
We Love to play and perform in front of an audience. Our Passion is music, both individually and collectively as a group. I have to say with a slightly jaded eye, that our audiences connect with us because we are not only good musicians, but engaging, interactive , and charming as hell. We give a performance not a recital.
We have four lead male singers, and great harmonies, which make for varied and excellent harmonies. Instrumentally we have guitars, bass, drums, keyboards, harmonica, and on occasion a flute.
Dodging Cupid would be happy to provide you with services for the special occasion. We have a six-member piece in which includes four vocalists, and an eclectic variety of songs ranging from classic R&R to Motown. Our band does supply piped music and can accommodate any pre-arranged special requests either by the band or through our sound system.
